The state of our stress

There's no doubt about it-- we are living in stressful times. There's the day-to-day stress almost all of us face, whether that's balancing work and family or just trying to get from one obligation to the next without spinning out of control.

There's technological stress-- that endless ping of the phone or stream of social media postings demanding your attention.

There's relationship stress, dealing with spouses, or kids, or friends and family. And then there's social concerns, from climate change and politics to gun violence and terrorist threats. With all of these worries, it's surprising we can function at all.

So.. what does increased anxiety do to our bodies-- and how much of it can we take? Researchers are just beginning to understand how complex stress can really be.
